MANILA, Philippines - Guitar hero Nuno Bettencourt joked onstage, “It took us 25 years to swim over here.†Thus did ’80s funk-metal unit EXTREME finally make their way to Manila, opening the 2014 world tour of their 1990 double-platinum album. Extreme played a two-hour set – Pornograffitti from top to bottom, plus six of their greatest hits. Fans of the legendary band got a shot at meeting their idols prior to the show with PULP Royalty, a special package dedicated to loyal fans who receive extra perks and absolute pampering at PULP shows.
Extreme surely brought the funk out that night as the crowd danced with their arms raised to the songs they’ve all waited for years to hear live. As promised, they toned it down with the 1991 US Billboard chart topper, “More Than Words†and closed the evening with “Cupid’s Deadâ€, a song off their 1992 record, III Sides to Every Story.
