MANILA, Philippines - British Ambassador Asif Ahmad recently hosted at his Makati residence the launching of the very first Philippine Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). GEW is the largest celebration of innovators and job creators in the world, and this year it was celebrated in 120 countries through 40,000 events attended by 10 million people. The Philippine events for GEW have been organized by Go Negosyo in partnership with the British Embassy, encapsulating the 2013 theme of “Take a Step Forward.” Joey Concepcion led the GEW Philippines events which garnered around 10,000 participants from all over the country. According to British Ambassador Asif Ahmad, small and medium enterprises are strong economic drivers that can help the Philippines achieve sustainable growth so they should be nurtured. GEW is part of the ‘This is Great Britain’ campaign, a five-month celebration of the best of British business and culture organized by the British Embassy and its partners.
