The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Overseas Press Club and its board of governors led by chairman Babe Romualdez celebrated Filipino-American Friendship Day with Vice President Jejomar Binay and United States Ambassador Harry Thomas as special guests of honor. The event, also dubbed “A night of friendship”, also served as a farewell and testimonial dinner party for the outgoing US Ambassador, who expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming friendship he received from Filipinos during his stint in Manila. Businessmen, diplomats, government officials and members of the media all expressed their appreciation for Ambassador Thomas, whom MOPC chairman Babe Romualdez described as “everybody’s friend.” The Filipino-American Friendship Day is usually celebrated every 4th of July to commemorate the long-standing relations between the United States and the Philippines.
