Filipinos and Germans Football Match
MANILA, Philippines - Football fever has finally taken Filipinos by storm and the German Club (GC) Manila, together with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the German Embassy and the Office of the Solicitor General are bringing the fever to Bilibid through a friendly football match between the German Club Cranes (GC’s resident football team) and Bilibid Prison’s medium security inmates this January. The GC Cranes are set to troop to the Muntinlupa prison last Januray 14, 2012, a perfect prelude to the 31st anniversary of Philippine-German month in February. The match will not only promote physical fitness among inmates and support their educational program, but it will also encourage leadership, team-building and camaraderie among inmates who play for the Bilibid team. Present during the presscon are (from left) David Abrenilla, media relations, German Club Manila; Paul Schäfer, resident representative, Hans Seidel Foundation; Atty. Karl Miranda, assistant solicitor general; Michael Scheile, president, German Club Manila; and Carmina Barcelon, press and cultural section, German Embassy.
