MANILA, Philippines — A former farmer and tricycle driver said he has a better life after meeting broadcast journalist and entrepreneur Anthony "Ka Tunying" Taberna.
Dixon Alfabete or Dodong's story as featured in Pilipino Star Ngayon is an inspiring one.
He grew up in a household supported by a single mother in Negros Occidental. He was able to go to school until the fifth grade but had to stop so he would be able to help their family.
His life made a turn around when he met Taberna, the president of Taberna Group of Companies (TGC).
He was hired as a salon assistant and family driver. When the salon closed, he was sent to work as a baker at the first branch of Ka Tunying's restaurant in 2015.
Dodong was among the company's employees who attended its appreciation party held last January 4. Lucky attendees won raffle prizes and giveaways that included appliances, gift certificates, cash and frozen goods.
The proprietors of the TGC said that they have come a long way from being a simple community bakeshop in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.
The company currently has several Ka Tunying's restaurants and events arm Outbox Media (OBM).
