After-work indulgence at The Shang

The Brass Munkeys perform at the “Coffee, Tea and All That Jazz” festival at the East Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza.

MANILA, Philippines - Even for people who adore their job, work can still be stressful, exhausting and all-consuming. So stop lugging home all your job stress and start enjoying your time away from the office. Relax with yoga, curl up on the couch with a bag of chips, or opt for a bubble bath to do the trick.  Better yet, chase the office blues away with a cup of coffee/tea and a good read, while listening to soothing jazz music.

From March 20 to 29, the East Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza’s East Wing transforms into a Parisian al fresco cafe as the mall holds the “Coffee, Tea and All That Jazz at The Shang” festival.

“The festival fetes the divine goodness of these beloved beverages and their perfect partners: pastries, book, music and everything else,” said Marline Concio Dualan, division manager for marketing,  Shangri-La Plaza.

Shangri-La Plaza Mall gathered well-known coffee and tea brands Figaro Cafe, Espressamante Illy, Starbucks, Di Bella by Cravings Group, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, 26th Bistro and its other merchants Rustan’s Department Store, Crabtree & Evelyn, National Book Store, Powerbooks, D&K Kitchen Essentials, True Value, Astrovision under one roof to provide office workers, call center agents, students, coffee and book lovers a venue to indulge in a myriad of exclusive brews.

At the launch, guests had their fill of Di Bella coffee from Australia, which was brought to the country by the Cravings Group. The brew is best enjoyed black with red velvet cupcakes and brokies (brownie and cookie) from Wicked on the side.

A barista also gave a talk on coffee appreciation and shared popular brewing methods to the delight of guests.

“’Coffee, Tea & All That Jazz is Shangri-La Plaza’s way of showcasing the wares of our partner merchants in an artistic and curated way. Here, guests can grab/buy a book from National Book Store and Powerbooks while sipping their favorite brew,” noted Lala Fojas, executive vice president and general manager, Shangri-La Plaza.

Soulful jazz hits performed by the Brass Munkeys accompanied the robust flavors of our java journey. Other featured performers are The Executives on March 22; Cara Manglapus on March 28; and Vince Lahora on March 29.

“Coffee Tea and All That Jazz is our way of indulging our patrons’ love for beverages. With the best coffee, tea and complementary brands housed at The Shang, we look forward to giving our mall guests a truly pleasurable experience in this festival,” added Fojas.

So the next time you feel stressed out after work, you know where to go.
