PhilPost marks Shell centenary with commemorative stamps

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  Shell companies in the Philippines and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhlPost) recently signed a memorandum of agreement on the issuance of special commemorative stamps marking the power, energy and gas technology leader’s 100 years of presence in the country.

“We are extremely proud and honored to issue the Shell 100th-year commemorative stamps as the whole nation celebrates the significant contributions that Shell ahs made to every Filipino,” said PhilPost postmaster general Ma. Josefina Dela Cruz.

Citing the brand’s historical and cultural significance and the company’s important contribution to society, PhilPost is issuing the commemorative stamps to celebrate Shell’s impact on nation building.

From its humble beginnings as a six-employee firm importing, repacking, and reselling kerosene in 1914, Shell has grown to become one of the largest investors in the country with diverse operations in upstream, downstream, and business process outsourcing, employing more than 4,000 Filipinos.

Shell’s presence in the country has also evolved from being merely a petroleum company into a proponent of smarter mobility, sustainable energy sources, and many other advocacies. Its social investment programs have been focused on education, environment, health, safety, and poverty alleviation.

PhilPost’s specially embellished stamp of Shell is a first in its industry. The Shell commemorative stamps will commence circulation by third quarter of the year.
