MANILA, Philippines - GE recently unveiled its latest array of Industrial Solutions products that have been engineered to meet the needs in safety, quality and reliability for Electrical Distribution systems. These included medium-voltage switchgear and vacuum circuit breaker, low-voltage switchgear, automatic transfer switch (ATS) and UPS. Also showcased was the WavePro-F Busway, a new generation fire-resistant waterproof busway that uses a state-of-the-art manufacturing process, resulting in a compact cast resin busway with low internal stress and a leakage current of almost zero.
“We are continually investing in new products and R&D,†said Andrew Chelliah, regional product marketing manager of GE Industrial Solutions’ Power Equipment Business in Pacific Asia. “Our business is definitely in Asia. In the past, we were traditionally known for American-standard products only, but now we are one of the major players in IEC products.â€
According to Chelliah, GE Industrial Solutions in the Philippines is one of the company’s bigger businesses in Southeast Asia. In fact, the Philippines was the first country in the world that installed their newest product, the WavePro-F Fire-rated Busway, which is suitable for emergency generator circuits of high-rise commercial buildings, shipyards, chemical plants and other demanding applications with high requirements in fireproofing, waterproofing and corrosion resistance.
Matthew Duque, country manager of GE Industrial Solutions, said that business has grown significantly, especially in past years, driven by a boom in construction. “We foresee the Philippines growing economically in the next three to five years and our growth is tied up with the growth of our market,†he said. “We are more focused on winning more projects, making all products available to our market and exploring more opportunities in the commercial and industrial sectors.â€
GE’s Industrial Solutions was a major participant at the 38th Annual National Convention held in November 2013 and staged by The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE) of the Philippines. The company focused its presentation on power solutions that targeted diverse industries with end-to-end product and service solutions. Andrew gave a presentation on “Leading the Future of Electrification†during the convention.
