MANILA, Philippines - The who’s who of the country’s financial and corporate world gathered for a night to witness the local production of the world-class musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I at Resorts World Manila last Sept. 21.
In line with global insurance company Manulife Financial’s 125th-year celebration, its wholly-owned subsidiary Manulife Philippines hosted the event for its VIP clients and friends who wined and dined in an exclusive cocktail party before watching the all-Filipino production of the acclaimed musical. In his speech, Manulife Philippines president and CEO Indren Naidoo noted that the special treat was also in celebration of the company’s 105th anniversary in the country and a way of thanking valued clients and partners over the years.
Around 250 VIP guests, led by Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines Christopher Thornley; executive committee members from Manulife; top Manulife agents across the country; representatives from bank partner China Bank and major business partners Citibank, BDO, and SM; and acclaimed singer-actress Vernie Varga, were present.
The party was held at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre Vestibule, which was transformed to look like the land of Siam, complete with a musical trio and ushers and usherettes dressed in traditional Thai garments to greet guests upon entering the lounge. To make the night even more memorable, a Manulife The King and I photo wall was set up where guests had their photos taken.
After the party, guests were seated at the VIP section of the theater, some of whom were able to meet the show’s lead stars — veteran stage thespians Leo Valdez, who played the irrepressible yet wise King Mongkut, and Monique Wilson, who played Anna Leonowens, the British lady hired by King Mongkut to serve as a governess for his children.
Given the success of the event, Manulife clients can expect bigger and even more rewarding surprises from their trusted insurance partner.
