Mercedes-Benz, CATS Motors celebrate 20 years of partnership

- Jovan Cerda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz and importer CATS Motors, Inc. celebrated last Thursday its 20th anniversary of partnership at the newly opened Mercedes-Benz showroom in Greenhills, San Juan City.

Attending the event were different personalities including Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares, Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson, Philstar Global Corp. President Kevin Belmonte and Former President Joseph Estrada.

Coinciding with the 20th anniversary is the launch of Mercedes-Benz's new SL Roadster, a luxury convertible with an all aluminum bodyshell which weighs around 110 kilograms, living up to its 'super light' name.

"The result is perceptible. Less weight means more dynamism and less consumption. In other words, the motoring enjoyment increases, the environmental burden decreases," Thomas Rudlaff of Daimler AG said.

Wolfgang Huppenbauer, president and chief executive officer of Daimler South East Asia, attended the event, congratulating CATS Motors President Felix Ang and Chairman Greg Yu for a successful partnership that has so far spanned two decades.

"...As Daimler continues to focus on shaping the future of the automobile, we are confident that CATS Motors will continue to grow with us from strength to strength," Huppenbauer said.

In the following video, Philstar.com interviews Ang and Yu as they talk about 20 years of success and a bright future ahead for both companies.
