Priceless golf holidays
MANILA, Philippines - On Feb. 29, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and MasterCard launched the campaign “72 Hours Amazing Thailand Golf Paradise” at the Westin Siray Bay Resort and Spa in Phuket, Thailand.
The campaign aims to bring visitors to Thailand for golf-related experiences, whether on the golf course or hotels and resorts.
Thailand has over 200 courses, many planned by world-renowned designers like Arnold Palmer, Nick Faldo, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player. Thailand has also hosted a wealth of international competitions including the Asian Tour International, Honda LPGA, Johnnie Walker Super Tour, Volvo Masters of Asia, and the Thailand Open.
All that the campaign has to offer —privileges at the golf courses, resorts and other amenities — are compiled in a handy guidebook for visitors’ easy reference. As the main sponsor of this campaign, MasterCard holders from around the world will enjoy special perks and privileges at up to 90 golf-related merchants from over 20 provinces across five regions in Thailand.
MasterCard Thailand country manager Gregg Hirano says, “There are not only special rates for green fees during both weekday and weekends, but also numerous privileges for hotel accommodations, spa and golf equipment when making payment using MasterCard debit and credit cards. We are confident that this program will encourage local golfers to take advantage of these privileges as well as attract foreign golfers to visit Thailand.”
Golf was introduced to Thailand over a hundred years ago during the reign of King Chulalongkorn. Once played only by nobles, it is now popular among the mainstream society, and hosts over a half million foreign golfers annually.
