MANILA, Philippines - Wireless leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has officially launched the first 4G Internet dongle designed for women, Smart Bro’s Rocket Chic, taking advantage of the telco’s superior, nationwide mobile broadband network.

Featuring a glossy pink acrylic finish, the Rocket Chic is a class of its own. The sliding USB plug allows the device to disguise itself as a regular cosmetic product or even a piece of jewelry.

According to PLDT and Smart Technology Group Head Rolando G. Peña, the conglomerate is investing heavily on installing fiber optic cables which will link its base stations to the core network, international gateways, and Single Radio Access Network (Single RAN) antennas for its cellsites.

“Single RAN antennas enable us to make available 4G services such as HSPA+ and LTE (Long Term Evolution) with a simple software upgrade,” said Peña.

“Expanding our coverage will literally be as easy as flicking a light switch,” he said.
