MANILA, Philippines - National Book Store Foundation, Inc. (NBSFI) recently wrapped up its annual back-to-school drive, Project Aral, an initiative that included the generous support of loyal Laking National patrons. This year’s program impressively doubled last year’s total, gathering more than 200,000 school supply kits that will benefit underprivileged students in addition to the 70,000 school bags that the NBSFI is already donating.
“This is the first time that a person or group visited us students and made us happy,” Rosemarie Duman of Gervacio Makilan Elementary School in Murcia, Negros Occidental, said in Tagalog. “We no longer lack school supplies like notebooks and pencils. They even gave us free bags!”
Some of the beneficiaries include schools from Cagayan Valley Region in Luzon to Saranggani in Mindanao, such as San Esteban Elementary School, Agani Elementary School, Pusian Elementary School, Masin Elementary School, Angkiray Elementary School, Calantac Elementary School, Dalaoig Elementary School, Jurisdiction Elementary School, and Bilal Bin Rabah Islamic Center.
The campaign not only brought joy to its beneficiaries but also to NBS customers, as the project made it very easy for them to help less fortunate children from far-flung areas.
