MANILA, Philippines - Johnson Controls, the global building efficiency pioneer and the leader in delivering solutions that increase energy efficiency in buildings, recently announced its agreement with Stellar Equipment and Machinery, Inc. (SEMI) to sell York brand industrial/commercial and residential HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) equipment to the Philippine market. The announcement of the exclusive distributorship deal was held at the Tower Club the Philam Life Tower in Makati City and attended by the different clients of SEMI.
“According to the US Green Building Council, the building and construction industry is responsible for 39 percent of total energy use, 68 percent of total energy consumption, and 38 percent of total carbon dioxide emissions,” explains Primer Group of Companies president and CEO Jimmy Thai. “These figures may seem confusing, but for the most part, they only mean one thing: it’s the most accountable sector in terms of environmental impact.”
York is used in international landmarks such as the Empire State Building, the Kremlin, the US Capitol Building, Sydney Opera House, Burj Khalifa, and the British Houses of Parliament. Already a leader in air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation technologies worldwide, Johnson Controls broadens its market and widens its business segments by bringing York air conditioners to the Philippines.
Notably, York products have passed Freon emission standards and are energy-efficient, thus making them safe and environment-friendly. “Locally, Johnson Controls provides customers efficient, safe, and sustainable technology that makes occupants more productive and comfortable in business and the like,” said Soren Bjerg, Johnson Controls Building Efficiency vice president and managing director for Asia.
“The partnership with Johnson Controls is aimed at strengthening our commitment to provide products that uphold sustainable development in workplaces and communities,” said Thai. “And this initiative is a concrete depiction of this commitment.”
Currently, SEMI has represented the brand across various industries such as finance, health, banking, and real estate through local corporations such as Ayala Land, Robinsons, Greenhills, Filinvest, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, among others.
“We have enjoyed a strong and fruitful business relationship with Stellar for over 20 years, so we are pleased to name them our sole distributor for York products, moving forward,” said Bjerg. “When you combine tried and tested products with a tried and tested local distributor, it is difficult to see how the move could be anything other than good news for our many York customers in the Philippines.”
