MANILA, Philippines - Landco’s latest leisure development in San Juan, Batangas, called Playa Laiya, has posted dramatic sales growth this year, showing further evidence of an upswing in the real estate category despite recent global economic downturns for the past two years. For the first quarter of 2010 alone, sales have exceeded the sales target by 20 percent and Landco is confident it will meet sales projections for the remainder of the year. Through Playa Laiya, Landco aims to replicate the success of its other premier seaside residential resorts in Nasugbu, Batangas: the Peninsula and Terrazas de Punta Fuego, and in Calatagan, the Playa Calatagan, the country’s first leisure tourism estate.
At present, construction is in full swing for the 144-hectare beachside property that is a joint project between Landco and Aplaya Laiya Corporation. Located just after the Cabagning Bridge at the entrance of Laiya’s famed white-sand coastline, the property boasts one of the longest continuous beachfronts in San Juan, Batangas. Playa Laiya already has ready-to-use cabanas for guests and lot owners, as well as a main lounge area and the picnic area that are located next to the infinity pool.
Playa Laiya has a mix of residential and commercial lots that is in line with Landco’s vision of a leisure tourism estate, consistent in all their other Playa projects such as Playa Calatagan and Playa Azalea in Samal Island, Davao. Playa Laiya lots are selling briskly due to the on-time development of its first phase and the faster-than-expected developments of phases two and three. Compared to Peninsula de Punta Fuego, where the cuts of the lot sizes average at 600 sqm., prospective Playa Laiya homeowners can start building their dream beach getaway for a minimum of 220 sqm. Playa Laiya is two and a half hours away from Manila and with the recent inauguration of the Calamba-Santo Tomas, Batangas, eight-kilometer SLEX extension, one can reach San Juan via the STAR Tollway and take the Lipa Exit going to Padre Garcia, thus further reducing travel time by a good 20-30 minutes. Another option is to take San Pablo, Laguna, and take the diversion road that connects Tiaong, Quezon, to San Juan, Batangas.
