Philippines-Korea communications convergence forum held
MANILA, Philippines - On May 14, KISA (Korea Internet Security Agency), a government agency under the Korea Communications Commission specializing in national information security, national Internet development and international cooperation in the area of ICT and broadcasting, held the Philippines-Korea Communications Convergence Forum at the InterContinental Manila Hotel, sponsored by the KCC (Korea Communications Commission).
The newly established KCC aims to manage broadcasting and communications with full authority, promote the convergence process between broadcasting and telecommunications, convergence service, user control and interactivity, fair competition and user protection and single organization for policy and regulation.
Director general of KCC, Joon Ho Kim, and other government officials from both countries and around 200 professionals working in the industry, joined the forum. Yun Ho Song, vice director of KISA, spoke about Korea’s high rate of broadband usage and IPTV environment. He even mentioned that this event would enhance both countries’ mutual relationship and improve on their cooperation.
Samsung FTTH, KBSi, Lig Nex1, A and D Engineering, SK CandC, and KT demonstrated their core technology to participants from both countries. In addition, NTC introduced the radio frequency management system in the Philippines and PLDT introduced the broadband system and its environment. Cooperation between Korean and Philippine companies was also discussed.
Reflecting on future digital trends, the event introduced and promoted Korean communication technologies in Philippines where interest in Philippine technology/business cooperation, investment and trade has been established.
From this forum, we can expect the development of the relationship between Korean and Philippine companies working under the broadcasting and communication industry.
