Samsung rolls out 3D LED TV
MANILA, Philippines - Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation announced that its award-winning full HD 3D entertainment products will be available in the Philippines in April, and the TVs will support new content and applications. Samsung is the first company to make market-ready full HD 3D LED TVs available to Filipino consumers.
With the widest range of options in 3D home entertainment ever, including the first 3D LED TVs, 3D LCD and 3D Blu-ray Player, Samsung continues to lead the home entertainment industry by liberating content and creating new, immersive experiences for consumers.
“The success of recent 3D movie titles is building anticipation from people who want to enjoy the richness of 3D content from the comfort of their living room,” said Kyung Chull Park, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation. “We are confident that by being first to market the best integrated technology and approach, we have the best opportunity to capitalize on the market’s anticipation and continue to strengthen our leadership in 2010. Samsung continues to lead the industry by being the first in the market to deliver full HD 3D LED TV — with the widest range of options of 3D home entertainment with a full lineup of Flat Panel TVs, Blu-ray Player, and 3D glasses.”
With a comprehensive line up of 3D TV and AV products, proprietary 3D glasses developed by Samsung and strong content partnerships, Samsung is the leader in delivering a comprehensive 3D offering.
Starting with the LED Series 8 and 7, the LCD Series 7 TVs and the BD-C6900 Blu-ray player, the first 3D models will roll out in key markets beginning April, with additional models coming in by second half of the year. The products, which were unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, have already earned industry recognition, including top awards such as Best of CES and CES Innovation Honoree Awards.
Recognizing the need for strong content offering, Samsung also recently announced it has joined forces with DreamWorks Animation and Technicolor to accelerate the worldwide deployment of in-home 3D to mainstream consumers. The solution includes a broad lineup of 3D-capable HDTVs from Samsung, its new 3D Blu-ray disc player, and an exclusive promotion that includes a first-time feature-length, 3D Blu-ray version of DreamWorks Animation’s 2009 release, Monsters vs. Aliens.
The Samsung 3D TVs that will be launched in April will also be able to convert normal 2D contents to 3D in real time, eliminating the current problem of having limited 3D software in the market.
All of the 3D models will feature built-in Ethernet connection, wireless-ready capabilities, and Internet@TV, which provides access to the world’s first HDTV-based application store Samsung Apps. Samsung also announced that several new content providers will be delivering content and applications to the Samsung Apps store. Finally, outstanding design and energy-saving features will ensure that the 3D products fit with the sophisticated taste and environmental awareness of the modern consumer.
