With the most advanced technology today, mobile Internet connectivity isn’t impossible thanks to SeicheTunnel, a wireless fidelity service. Now we can all go online while stuck on EDSA, the busiest street in Manila, with our mobile phone or laptop computer.
"WiFi is the hottest thing among citizens and business people today," says Richard Yu, Aeonic Seiche president and COO. "We are proud to launch the SeicheTunnel, which will make EDSA a WiFi hot zone."
Aeonic Seiche WiFi Philippines, Inc. aims to transform Metro Manila into a WiFi city. With their kickoff on EDSA, WiFi will soon be available from Balintawak to Roxas Boulevard and even C5 as well.
So, if you are around Balintawak in Quezon City traveling to Ayala Avenue in Makati and soon up to Roxas Boulevard, you can surf the Net, download movie and audio files, send and receive e-mails, upload files, watch videos on YouTube, chat via Yahoo Messenger, view webcam images and play online games at DSL speed. Exciting, eh?
"By unwiring EDSA, the busiest thoroughfare in Metro Manila, we have made it possible for today’s busy consumers to stay online even while they’re on the go," adds Yu.
Rissa Samson and Jinno Rufino hosted the event at Wack-Wack Country Club. Members of the press got a firsthand glimpse of this wireless Internet technology. Rissa was chatting using Yahoo Instant Messenger with Jinno, who could be seen via webcam going from EDSA to Balintawak.
"The growing popularity and convenient mobility afforded by WiFi technology makes it very ideal," explains Yu. Wireless connectivity is suited to people on the go who need to stay online even when they are in transit."
To be part of the world’s first mobile Internet highway, all you need is a WiFi-ready laptop. If not, Aeonic Seiche also offers a starter kit to WiFi-enable your laptop with an adapter. You can also use your PDA or WiFi-enabled mobile phone.
While you are on EDSA, log on to www.seichetunnel.com and click to connect to the browser of SeicheTunnel’s portal. After that, just type in your valid user account with the password. Wireless connectivity has never been this easy.
Access can be purchased online using a credit card. The Seiche WiFi Light 5 plan (a user account with five hours of WiFi Internet usage within the coverage area that expires 30 days after first use) costs P200; Seiche Moderate 10 (10 hours of WiFi Internet usage good for 60 days) costs P350; and Seiche WiFi Unlimited (unlimited WiFi Internet usage for one month) goes for P850.
Hourly access plans are also available and may be purchased at Aeonic Seiche Tunnel’s authorized dealers. For starters, the Seiche Compliant WiFi Access Kit is worth P1,500, with a USB adapter for super-signal transmission from the client device to the Seiche Tunnel wireless network. These are first-time promotional rates.
"The SeicheTunnel network on EDSA is only the beginning," concludes Yu. We have already lined up future SeicheTunnel projects and, in time, the whole of Metro Manila will be a SeicheTunnel zone  a truly mobile WiFi Digital City as we envision it."
Boring traffic jams will finally be a thing of the past.
