Jun Allanigue creates something out of nothing

SINGLES@WORK - Aurora Diaz-Wilson -
Laughter comes easily to our hardworking bachelor who manufactures table linens, lamps, dividers and other related items for export. With 120 employees to help him, Jun Allanigue successfully runs a company that produces home accessories that are in demand in the US, Europe and Asia. As the head of the export division, Jun’s work involves sourcing indigenous raw materials from the different islands; handling product development; and marketing the finished items at trade shows, here and abroad.

A keen eye in spotting and transforming what used to be waste materials (such as talahib) into a finely crafted mat or lamp is what distinguishes Jun, whose company was founded 35 years ago by his mother, Marietta.

The opportunities are limitless, says our 41-year-old bachelor, but in the export industry, one has to try to focus on one’s target market. To be too diversified might jeopardize the quality of the finished products.
