Solenn Heussaff gives updates on next art exhibit, clothing line collab with Anne Curtis

MANILA, Philippines — Fans of Solenn Heussaff, the artist, can look forward to another exhibit by end of next year, revealed the actress during her guesting in Philstar.com's online show "Slam Book."

"I am going to start painting a new series soon. Maybe end of next year I can exhibit again soon," Solenn shared.

Apart from being a TV and movie actress, Solenn is also an artist, dabbling mostly in painting.

She held her third solo exhibit titled "Kundiman" that ran from March 26 to April 24 at the Modeka Gallery in Makati.

Apart from being accused of poverty porn after posing with a plush rug with a slum on the background as part of the exhibit's promotions and which she has since apologized for, Solenn was a bit sad with the outcome of her third solo exhibit.

"Kundiman" had poor attendance as it ran during the imposition of the second enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region and its neighboring provinces. ECQ was implemented from March 29 to April 4, 2021. It is the strictest form of quarantine where residents are required to stay at home with only essential and authorized workers allowed outside.

"I was medyo sad with my last exhibit because no one was able to go see it because we opened one day before the ECQ in March and my exhibit ended two days before end of ECQ. So no one was able to go," Solenn shared.

But as her favorite motto goes, "In life if I fall, I will rise again," she is set to rise again. In her own time.

Solenn revealed that she is the type of artist who needs to focus and sit straight for her to wield her magic on her canvas.

"When I start painting, it's every day. Five to 10 hours a day. I like to be super, parang intense with my painting schedule. 'Di ko kaya 'yung today I'll paint and then next week I'll paint again. It has to be one full blast," she shared.

The restrictions in place also hinder her from doing paintings, apart from she's really not inspired to pick up her brush at the moment. Her studio is at her parents' house.

"I'm not inspired at the moment to paint. Usually, when I'm not inspired to paint, I usually don't touch anything because that would end up looking ugly and I would just waste my canvas," Solenn said.

She's busy anyway as the hands-on mother to her daughter Thylane or Tili. Solenn puts her creative side to good use in her collaboration with sister-in-law Anne Curtis. The two put up TiliDahli, a brand that makes video content for moms and babies where she serves as the writer and director of most videos. TiliDahli also now offers a clothing line for babies, some of which are made from organic materials. It is named after her daughter and Anne's daughter, Dahlia.
