What makes Heart Evangelista's artworks unique
MANILA, Philippines - Each painter has a unique characteristic that sets them apart from other painters. For Heart Evangelista, her fluidity and unrestricted strokes make her artwork unique.
Unlike realists who use ordinary people in ordinary surroundings as subjects for their works, Heart loves to incorporate unlikely elements on her painting - fish, flowers and women surrounded with ambiguous shapes. In other words, she just paints whatever she likes.
During the press conference of her "Carry Your HeART" exhibit, Heart recalled how Ivan Rossi, who has been teaching her to paint since she was 13 has made her realize that being a stubborn painter is her trademark as an artist.

"One time he taught me how to paint and said I was very stubborn, matigas daw ulo ko and I would not follow the flow," Heart said.
"So he said, you know actually you have a certain style that I don't want to touch so I am just gonna sit here and watch you paint."
Since then, the two went from having teacher-student relationship to being actual friends. Heart added that Ivan was the one who encouraged her to paint by heart and to be confident with whatever style that she has because that would make her stand out above the rest.
"He was someone who told me to not be afraid with people saying 'you are not a realist or you don't paint a picture perfect painting.'" the actress/painter quips.
Heart previously admitted that being known by people as a model and leading lady onscreen for years has made her feel uneasy and conscious to venture into the world of art.
