‘Iskwalado’ at SM Art Center
MANILA, Philippines - Galerie Anna gathers 42 contemporary artists in “Iskwalado,” the sixth iteration of its annual show, which is on view until Dec. 15 at SM Art Center, fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City.
Participating artists are Rex Aguilar, Wilfredo Alicdan, Tyago Almario, Ricky Ambagan, Dennis Atienza, Cezar Arro, Grandier Bella, Robert Besana, Malyn Bonayog, Mel Cabriana, Ferdie Cacnio, Toti Cerda, Rai Cruz, Melvin Culaba, Gary Custodio, Tom Daquioag, Janos Dela Cruz, Mark Lester Espina, Patrick Fernandez, Angelito Florendo, Ivy Floresca, Paolo Icasas, Louie Ignacio, Jun Impas, Raul Isidro, Gerry Joquico, Grae Martin Joquico, Josue Mangrobang, Jessie Mondares, Michael Muñoz, Bobby Nuestro, Vincent Padilla, Sam Penaso, Lester Rodriguez, Alex Roxas, Jeff Salon, Dicky Santos, Ioannis Sicuya, Christian Tamondong, Bryan Teves, Jay Torres and Valen Valero.
The show is the sixth iteration of Galerie Anna’s annual art exhibition. “Iskwalado” refers to local carpenter’s tool, the iskwala — a ruled metal straightedge set at right angles to a straight piece — used for measuring and marking square work. The artworks showcased in the show are uniform in size (40 x 41 inches).
As in the past, there shall be uniformity in diversity as each participating artist is given freedom to express their trademark style given the standard measurement.
