MANILA, Philippines — Filipino designers, manufacturers and exporters showcased their innovative works in the recently-concluded NY Now Exhibition, one of the biggest wholesale trade shows in New York which features home, handmade and lifestyle design collections.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the the exhibit attracted over 35,000 visitors and buyers from all over the United States.
A total of 19 Filipino exhibitors under the Lifestyle Philippines brand represented the country in the NY Now Exhibition which took place in the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City from August 15 to 19.
Lifestyle Philippines is a curated exhibition of creative enterprises representing the Philippines's unique and innovative designs that aims to position the country as a sourcing destination for finely-crafted lifestyle products for the world market.
Participating companies under the home sector were Alice Blue Candles & Home Fragrances, Arden, Art n Nature, CSM Philippines, Finali, Klassy Collections, Lightworks, Markalex Creative Craft, Mil Export Philippines, Nature's Legacy and Venzon Lighting.
Companies under the fashion sector were Ann Ong, Beatriz, Crystal Seas, kitSilver Jewellery, Larone, Megabijoux, Risque Design and The Tanner Manila.
United States Ambassador to the Philippines Jose Cuisia Jr. noted that the country has long been a source of "innovative, beautiful and exquisite" designs in the fashion, furniture and lifestyle sectors.
"It is definitely a source of pride to see this talent recognized in such a prestigious exhibition in no less than New York City, the fashion and design capital of the US," Philippine Ambassador to the Unites States Jose Cuisia Jr. said.
The Philippines's participation in NY Now was spearheaded by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, or CITEM, led by its executive director, Rosvi Gaetos.
NY Now 2015 featured 2,600 exhibitors under 400 categories and attendees from 80 foreign countries.
