Hundreds of couples recreate iconic post-WWII Times Square kiss photo
MANILA, Philippines — To cap off the celebration of the anniversary of the the end of World War II, hundreds of couples trooped to Times Square to reenact the famous photograph of a kiss between a sailor and a woman.
The photo, known as "V-J Day in Times Square" for Victory over Japan, was taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt on 1945. It was said to be taken after news broke of the Japanese surrender in World War II.
Also joining the couples was a 25-foot sculpture of a sailor kissing a white-uniformed nurse depicting Alfred Eisenstaedt's photograph.
