Leonardo Aguinaldo at Galleria Duemila
“Fi-at is Pilak (Flat Money)” by Leonardo Aguinaldo
Leonardo Aguinaldo portrays the insurgence of imposed industrialization in the Cordilleras, showcases his disdain over the erosion of moral values, and focuses on the slow fleeting pleasures of life in the highlands in “Inima III,” which opens today at Galleria Duemila, 120 Loring St., Pasay City. The show runs until Aug. 31.
The show takes its name from inima, Ilocano for hand-pressed. His works — intricate narratives in striking black and white woodcut and linocut compositions — resemble tattoos.

‘Art and Anthropology Mural’ at Erehwon Center for the Arts
The Erehwon Art Foundation — in cooperation with the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and The Field Museum of Natural History — presents the “Art and Anthropology Project 2015” (in its Manila counterpart exhibition) in the form of a mural titled “Art in Plenty” on Aug. 29, 5 p.m. at the Erehwon Center for the Arts, 1 Don Francisco St., Villa Beatriz Subd., Old Balara, QC.
The Chicago mural will be inaugurated in Nov. 7 at the Field Museum of the Natural History.
The project depicts objects from the Philippines’ rich historical and cultural fabric that are found in lcoal museums, as well as the substantial Philippine collection of the Field Museum.
The five Filipino-American artists who will be undertaking the mural in Manila will travel all the way from Chicago, Illinois to interact with their Manila-based counterparts from Aug. 23 to 28, 2015. The five Fil-Am artists are Jen Buckler, Elisa Racelis Boughner, Cesar Conde, Trisha Oralie Martin and Li Nard Skinard. They will be joined in Manila by local artists Emmanuel Garibay, Leonardo Aguinaldo, Jason Moss, Florentino Impas Jr. and Othoniel Neri. Their interactive mural “Art in Plenty” is the Filipino artists’ interpretation of the general theme of the project, which is “Portrait of the Object as Filipino.” In addition to the interactive mural, each of the Filipino artists will be exhibiting five paintings of a similar theme and content at the Erehwon Center for the Arts. These works will eventually be included in the Chicago exhibition when the second interactive mural, titled “Art in a Vacuum,” will be inaugurated at the Field Museum.
