MANILA, Philippines - Who needs a big expensive house when you can have a home that is tiny, yet functional and cozy?

Vina Lustado of Sol Haus Design caught great attention online when her house was featured in Houzz TV, a website that promotes unique homes and renovations to give design inspirations.

"When we profiled designer Vina Lustado’s tiny house in a recent article, the response was swift. Hundreds of readers left comments, mostly praising Lustado," the website said.

Lustado is a Filipina architect living in California. After more than a decade on the high-end corporate path, Lustado decided to focus her career on smaller-scale projects that could make a positive difference, starting with her own home.

Unlike most people who opt for million dollar residences, Lustado chose to live in a 140-square-foot home that she built for $40,000. Why? Because she was raised by her family believing that a simple life is a good life. The house reflects her philosophy about simplicity, sustainability and living within her means.

“When you think about your daily life, having to go to work every day, and making the money to just support your lifestyle … really, how much time do you really spend with your family, quality time, not cleaning up the garage?" she said on the video posted by Houzz TV.

So, how much space do you need to find happiness?
