Gallery News: Gus Albor at Galleria Duemila
Gus Albor appropriates the body with a utilitarian pretext in “Epicentre,” which opens on Dec. 7 at Galleria Duemila, 210 Loring St., Pasay City. The show runs until Jan. 30, 2015.
Albor pays tribute to Yves Klein’s “Anthropometries” through an array of soothing gray tonalities and figurations imprinted by using the female body as a paintbrush. All this offers a nostalgic context as he renders compositions over his old landscape paintings.

Rachel Rillo at Silverlens
Rachel Rillo reaffirms photography’s object-ness in “Flower Flies Mimic Wasps,” which opens on Nov. 27 at Silverlens, 2320 Don Chino Roces Ave. Ext., Makati City. The show runs until Dec. 20.
The deeper one looks, the clearer one sees that more than the pictured subject matter, the photographs speak more about the medium itself, its inherent mimetic abilities, its overlooked physicality and its yet inalienable capacity to register and simulate truth.
