MANILA, Philippines - Mario Bautista Panis’s “Muriel,” a painting of his daughter wearing traditional Filipino dress, bagged first prize in the Human Figure & Portrait category of the 2nd Pastel Contest organized by the PintoresPastelistasEspañoles or the Spanish Pastel Society (ASPAS).
The results were announced through the ASPAS website www.aspas.ae.
“Muriel” was previously chosen as one of the finalists in the Figurative Category by Art Renewal Center’s 2013-2014 International ARC Salon.
Mario is the founding president of the Pastel Society of the Philippines. He is also a member of the Tuesday Group, Art Wednesday, Philippine Plein Air Group and of the Portrait Society of America.
