Gallery news: Alfredo Esquillo and Renato Habulan at Finale Art File

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Alfredo Esquillo and Renato Habulan hold simultaneous solo shows — “Sequence and Consequence” and “Saysay,” respectively — which are on view until April 30 at Finale Art File, Warehouse 17, La Fuerza, 2241 Chino Roces Ave., Makati City.

In “Sequence and Consequence,” Esquillo engages the theme of  “loob,” reflecting on how the work conveys the sense of values that Filipino culture is rooted in, and attempts to visualize these ideas through the concept of the Tagalog word “saysay” (to tell or narrate).

In “Panimula: Loob at Kaluluwa,” Habulan’s pen and ink drawings attempt to “tell the stories of our people and the triumph of the human spirit in their daily struggles. The drawing series is a collection of stories about children, reflecting on the contemporary experience of alienation.
