‘Bohol Live Aid’ concert at Xavier School

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Wally Gonzales Bandwagon, Flippin Soul Stompers and Strange Behavior perform in a concert billed as “Bohol Live Aid 2014” on Jan. 11, Saturday, 7:30 p.m., at Xavier Grade School Gym in Greenhills, San Juan. This will be an evening of jazz, soul, funk, blues and classic rock.

Xavier School Batch ’83 Foundation is organizing the fund-raising gig for the benefit of the earthquake victims of Bohol. One of the organizers say, “Bohol is still in shambles. We must be aware that  many houses of the people of Bohol are still in ruins, and they don’t have much aid going their way.”

Wally Gonzalez is the legendary electric guitarist of the ’70s supergroup Juan De La Cruz Band. His Bandwagon plays blues-rock numbers by Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton and Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Aretha Franklin, among others.

Flippin Soul Stompers, which boasts a horn section, is a crowd-pleasing soul, funk, reggae band that delivers rousing music by James Brown, Marvin Gaye, The Temptation, Otis Redding, and Bob Marley.

Strange Behavior is a group of young talented jazz musicians whose influences range from Cole Porter, Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, and Herbie Hancock.

Tickets are being sold at P1,500 with proceeds going to the Rebuild Bohol Foundation. Call Joan at the Xavier AAXS office at 727-3329, or Andrew at 0917-5268846.
