Tanghalang Danilo opens with Alder Llagas’ ‘Magnificent Malarayat’ and ‘With a Song in My Heart’

MANILA, Philippines - Danny Dolor recently mounted an exhibit of oil paintings by Alder Llagas titled “Magnificent Malarayat,” and a merienda musical With a Song in My Heart, top billed by soprano Rachelle Gerodias, baritone Andrew Fernando, tenor Lemuel dela Cruz, and lyric soprano Fame Flores. Greg Zuñiga, noted pianist, assisted the quartet. Immortal opera arias, Broadway hits and kundiman, harana and balitaw comprised the repertoire.The shows were held at Antipolo del Norte, Lipa City.

The afternoon affair marked the opening of the 2014 Arts and Culture season of Tanghalang Danilo of the Soledad Pavilion, now on its 5th year. It is also a celebration of the 35th year of the Tribung Pilipino Foundation.

Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales and Celia Diaz Laurel headed the guest list.
