MANILA, Philippines - The Cultural Center of the Philippines invites Filipino filmmakers to join the Ika-25 Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video from Nov. 12 to 15.
Deadline for submission of entries is on or before Oct. 15, Tuesday, not later than 6 p.m., at the CCP Media Arts Division, 4th Floor, CCP Main Building, CCP Complex, Pasay City.
Entries to the competition must be in 16mm and 35mm format for Film and DVD and MiniDV formats for Video. Competition categories are: Short Feature/Narrative, Experimental, Documentary and Animation. All works submitted to the competition must be strictly independent works and not produced for commercial screening. School-based work (e.g. theses) may be submitted.
These works must not have been completed earlier than December 2012. Each participant may submit a maximum of three entries in each category.
Cash prizes will be given to winners of the different categories (1st prize, 25,000; 2nd prize-15,000 and 3rd prize, 10,000). Special Awards will be given for Best Regional Entry and Best Entry for/on/by Children. Recipients of the Special Awards will also be given cash prizes of P15,000 each. Honorable mentions, with a cash prize of P5,000, may be awarded by the jury.
Winners of the competition will be announced in the awards ceremony on Nov. 15. All entries to the competition will be screened during the Festival week at the CCP Tanghalang Manuel Conde.
Entry forms may be downloaded from www.culturalcenter.gov.ph or obtained from the CCP Media Arts Office on Tuesdays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Considered the longest-running independent film competition of its kind in the ASEAN and Asian region, the Ika-25 Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video is marking its 25th anniversary this year.
To commemorate this milestone, there will be special events held prior to festival on Nov. 5 to 8. Titled “Ganito Kami Noon, ‘Eto Kami Ngayon,†a week-long series of screenings featuring some of the more outstanding works awarded since its inception in 1997 will be held.
The screenings will be prefaced with a panel discussion featuring three resource persons — each one a Gawad Alternatibo awardee. “Ganito Kami Noon, ‘Eto Kami†noon aims to highlight the impact of the Gawad Alternatibo in the Pinoy independent scene through the years.
