MANILA, Philippines - “Memories of a Pilgrimage†an audiovisual exhibition that reflects the recent journey to Camino de Santiago made by photographer Manuel Valcárcel and musician Alejandro González, both native Galicians opened to the public at the Atrium of Ateneo Graduate School of Business and then was recently exhibited at the Shangri-La Mall EDSA, East Atrium Mid Level.
The exhibit is a unique pilgrimage in which both artists Valcárcel and González show their sensitivity to towns, villages and routes that are steeped in cultural and religious tradition, bringing to the fore realities that often go unnoticed or unheard, drawing attention to situations and circumstances that impact directly on the lives of those that live along the pilgrimage ways, and the simple lifestyle of the towns and cities on the route.
After two years of its own pilgrimage to several countries (Croatia, Bulgaria, France, New Zealand and Australia, among others), the exhibit made its way to the Philippines. In collaboration with Ateneo de Manila University and Shangri-La Malls, the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines, Instituto Cervantes de Manila, the Spanish Tourism Board and the Tourism Board of Galicia bring an exhibit that reflects the cultural wealth of a Europe that has grown up around the Pilgrims’ Way to Santiago de Compostela.
