NatGeo brings back the 80s in nostalgic miniseries

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Remember the time when mobile phones were like bricks, everyone sang along to Madonna's Like a Virgin, iPods were boom boxes and the world was on the brink of a nuclear war?

National Geographic Channel brings back the decade that made us in a 10-part miniseries titled "The 80s: The Time of our Lives."

The show gathers and weaves interviews from the icons of the 1980s, including celebrities, innovators and media titans to create a documentary series that encapsulates the history of the revolutionary decade.

Narrated by British actor Richard Grant, the show uses archiving and reconstruction to tell stories that rocked the world and shaped us to who we are.

"They can reminisce and enjoy and remember how impactful and how enjoyable the decade of the 80s was," Jude Turcuato, territory head of the Philippines at Fox Broadcasting Company said at the show's launch last Tuesday at the Amber Ultra Lounge in Taguig.

The 10-part show will run for two weeks starting May 20 at 10 p.m., with an episode shown every weekday.

"For everyone who likes factual entertainment, to see a lot of what happened 25 years ago that will have something to do with what you do now, please watch the 80s: The Time of Our Lives on the National Geographic Channel," Turcuato said.
