Gallery News: Butch Payawal & Studio 1616 at Boston Art Gallery

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - From April 6 to 23, Boston Art Gallery will be featuring two simultaneous art exhibitions: “Odilon” by Butch Payawal and a group exhibition by Studio 1616 artists titled “Permanently Unfinished.”

This month, painter Butch Payawal presents new works in oil on canvas through “Odilon,” his latest one-man show. Payawal describes his show as a merging of “dreams and fantasy, the story of a father and son in everyday life,” the various states of emotion and encounters they have been through. While based on daily human interactions, the paintings whimsically give visual form to the flights of fancy that one goes through.

Studio 1616’s “Permanently Unfinished” features the works of young artists Johanna Helmuth, John Marin, Keb Cerda, Yani Unsana, Aiya Balingit, Erick Villarruz, Yeo Kaa, Levin Paras, Roy Rosatase, Jayvee David, Dale Erispe, Jett Osian, Jerahmeel Alvarez, Ciron Seneres, Pow Marin and Lui Manaig.

â€œOdilon” by Butch Payawal and Studio 1616’s “Permanently Unfinished” open on April 6 at 6pm and are on view until April 23 at Boston Art Gallery.
