MANILA, Philippines - The Ballet Manila School, the educational arm of the country’s premiere classical ballet company, will hold its annual intensive Summer Workshop dubbed Just Dance XVI from April 10 to May 26, 2013. Enrollment is now ongoing.
The classes being offered are: Ballet Technique Classes (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3), Baby Ballet, Pointe Class (Intermediate and Advanced), Boys’ Class, Pas de Deux/ Partnering Class, Variation/ Repertoire Classes, Modern Dance/ Jazz, Yoga and Adult Ballet.
Classes will be held Tuesdays to Saturdays at the Ballet Manila studios at 1915 Donada Street, Pasay City. Each session will last one hour to one hour and 15 minutes.
Prima ballerina and BM artistic director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and artistic associate Osias Barroso lead the faculty roster, which will also include BM’s seasoned dancers and teachers.
Auditions for half and full scholarships will be held on March 16 and 17 at the Ballet Manila studios. Registration will begin at 10 a.m., while the audition proper starts at 2 p.m. There is a registration fee of P300. Applicants who do not qualify for scholarship may enroll as regular paying students for the workshop.
The summer workshop will culminate in student performances of The Swan, The Fairy and The Princess on May 25 and 26, 3 p.m., at the Aliw Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City.
A certificate of completion will be awarded to each student at the end of the workshop.
Ballet Manila offers a P26,500 workshop package that is inclusive of: tuition, registration and recital fees; costume rental for the two-day student performances; photo shoot for the souvenir program; two copies of the souvenir program; and 30 tickets to the two-day student performances (15 tickets per performance). The package does not include uniform (leotards, tights and ballet shoes).
