Spanish contemporary dance and flamenco at Instituto Cervantes

MANILA, Philippines - Instituto Cervantes de Manila and the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines present “En Danza,” a Spanish contemporary dance and flamenco series.

En Danza” wants to bring to the heart of Makati the elegance and style of Spanish dance companies through these two avant-garde and innovative proposals. This is also in line with the new contemporary sound and lights featured in the walls of Manila.

An award-winning dancer, teacher and choreographer, Teresa Nieto received the Spanish National Dance Award in 2004 and two Max performing-arts awards as Best Female Dancer in 2007 and 2009.

In 1990 she founded her own company, Teresa Nieto & Co. and during over 20 years of experience, the company has earned several awards and worldwide recognition.

Al Mal Tiempo Buena Cara” is a compilation of various snippets of Teresa Nieto & Co.’s past shows, special moments encapsulating their work and style. The flamenco performance that features the dancer and choreographer Eduardo Guerrero will take place at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza on Nov. 20 and 27, at 7 p.m.

De Dolores” is Eduardo Guerrero’s homage to his grandmother, the person who noticed his talent at the early age of six. Guerrero is a young promise of the present flamenco scene who has already performed with some of the biggest names in flamenco such as Eva Yerbabuena, Amador Rojas and Antonio Canales. During his first visit to the Philippines, Eduardo Guerrero will share his knowledge and talent in a master class on Nov. 26, 10:30 a.m., at Instituto Cervantes de Manila.

En Danza” is jointly organized by the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines and Instituto Cervantes de Manila with the cooperation of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the Comunidad de Madrid, with the support of Casa Europa/Porcelanosa, Bench, Emperador Distillers and Philippine Airlines.
