MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Madrigal Singers (also known as Madz) performed a series of concert in Lisbon as part of their 2012 European Goodwill Concert Tour on Oct. 10, 12 and 13. Ambassador-designate to the Portuguese Republic Philippe Jones Lhuillier gave brief remarks before the inspiring performance of MADZ at the Sala dos Espelhos of the Palácio Foz. The Madz is one of the oldest choirs in the Philippines and one of the most awarded in the world, having won all of the top prizes in most of the world´s prestigious choral competitions. They first performed in Lisbon in the 1970s when there was no existing Philippine diplomatic mission to Portugal, and has only now returned to sing in Lisbon through the initiatives of the Philippine Embassy.
