MANILA, Philippines - Mario Parial’s artistic view of the world is presented in a film-based exhibit of his works taken by analog vintage film cameras of different makes and types in show titled “The Peripatetic Process of Parial’s Painted Photographs 2.” The show is on view until Sept. 23 at Galerie Francesca.
Parial first exhibited his painterly photographs in a show in 2009. This exhibit is a takeoff from this earlier show, but the recent works are more minimal in color and composition.
“I found some of my negatives from as early as 1973, printed them in the darkroom and painted on them with acrylic, pastel and pencil, crosshatches with felt tip markers and paper collages, and other found medium, rendering photographs finished with techniques I developed as a painter and from my early experience with the printmaking process,” says Parial, who is also acclaimed as a printmaker.
Galerie Francesca is at the fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City.
