MANILA, Philippines - The FilFest Cultural Foundation and Insular Life with Ginajane Grey Dance and Art Center present a fiery night of music and dance on Aug. 11, 8 p.m., at the Insular Life Auditorium, Insular Life Tower, Filinvest, Alabang.
It features Antonio Vargas, one of the world’s leading flamenco dancers and choreographers. Known for his ingenuity and innovativeness, Vargas performs and teaches internationally and travels around the world with his wife, Daphne Vargas, known as “La Ninã de Fuego” or “the daughter of fire.” When she performs she exudes passion, grace and fire.
Clarisa Di Salvo specializes in flamenco dancing but also has training in various musical styles. Her enormous love for flamenco led her to settle in Spain with Jose Ismael Sierra who has been playing the guitar since 10 years of age and travels around the world for special performances where flamenco dancers require only the best accompanying guitarists. Both husband and wife teams are in Asia to conduct workshops.
La Conja (Conja Abdessalan) is one of the flamenco world’s most versatile artists, and Adolfo Timuat is a talented Filipino guitarist based in Barcelona. He holds the title of Luthier of Stringed Instruments from Castilla-La Mancha in Spain. Ginajane Grey is the directress, head teacher and choreographer of the Ginajane Grey Dance and Art Center where she holds classes at the Makati Cinema Square. Also featured in the show are Dianne Francisco and Ma. Victoria Santos.
The show, “Filfest Season 5: Flamenco! Cuerdas De Fuego,” is directed and choreographed by Ginajane Grey and Antonio Vargas.
