MANILA, Philippines - The UP Home Economics Alumni Association (UPHEAA) and the UP Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (DHRIM) present the one-night concert of Aliw Awards’ 2011 Best Choral Group, the UP Singing Ambassadors, on June 23, 7 p.m., at the Toyota-GT Asian Center Auditorium at the UP Diliman Campus.
The UP Singing Ambassadors (UPSA) will perform under the baton of Ed Manguiat, the group’s founder and conductor. Performing music from the classical to the most modern genres, UPSA has presented glimpses of Philippine culture to vast audiences in Europe, Africa, Asia and the United States. Founder and conductor Ed Manguiat led the group to win top awards in prestigious choral competitions in Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Wales, Hungary and Switzerland.
Now in its 30th year, the UP Singing Ambassadors finds great fulfilment sharing its music with its regular local and international audiences, and more significantly, to the less privileged who are constant recipients of their musical generosity. The concert on June 23 is the kick-off of the fund-raising campaign for the Integrated Training Research Facility (ITRF) of the UP Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (DHRIM).
Tickets are priced at P1,500 for VIP seats; and P500 for regular seats. For ticket purchases and reservations, call the DHRIM office at 922-02941 or the UPHEAA (look for Cora Claudio) at 91092-83905724 or 920-6873.
