MANILA, Philippines - The School of Music of The Philippine Women’s University will mount “Music for a Cause,” a benefit concert for victims of Typhoon Sendong on Feb. 29, Wednesday, 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Philamlife Auditorium, UN Ave., Manila.
President Dr. Francisco Benitez said the concert is the culminating activity marking the month-long 93rd foundation anniversary celebration of PWU.
Dean Dr. Felicidad Prudente said the featured performers are artists-in-residence — noted violinist Joseph Esmilla and pianist Rudolf Golez, the PWU Festival Chorus, Male and Female String Quartets under Maestro Sergio Esmilla and the Guitar Ensemble led by director Maestro Jose Valdez.
Conductor is Armin Comon with Richelle Rivera, Beah Gumarang, Jaenna Peralta and Myra Bartolome as assisting pianists, while soprano Elietess Carino will render classical songs, accompanied by guitarist Benchito Cariño.
Solo numbers will be provided by guitarists Monching Carpio, Franco Maigue, violinists Jonathan Livioco, Rey Casey Concepcion, Joseph Brian Cimafranca and baritone Belford Mabunga.
