'Mother and Child in Philippine Art' book launch and exhibit

MANILA, Philippines - The Exhibition Center for Contemporary Art (ECCA), in cooperation with the Art Association of the Philippines and Blue Matiz Art Gallery, recently launched the coffee table book, Mother and Child in Philippine Art at The SM Art Center, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. It coincided with the opening of an exhibit featuring the art works in the said publication.  The book which was authored by Manuel D. Duldulao is the first of a five-volume series titled Great Themes in Philippine Art. It explores in depth the Mother and Child genre as it takes into account the temperament of our predominantly matriarchal society, the varied persuasions of different artists and the evolving needs of our times in terms of aesthetic expression. The book boasts a magnificent and colorful showcase of over 140 oeuvres by both old and contemporary Filipino masters.
