-

MANILA, Philippines - The Metro Manila Concert Orchestra (MMCO) and pianist Aima Labra Makk play beautiful movie themes in “MMCO, Makk & Movies” on Aug. 26, 7 p.m. at the Marian Auditorium of Miriam College, Katipunan, QC.

Repertoire includes Ryan Cayabyab’s Iduyan Mo from the movie Agila; Copland’s music for the movies; Tchaikovsky’s music from Swan Lake from the award-winning movie The Black Swan, and Center Stage; Ives’ The Unanswered Question  from the movie The Thin Red Line; Williams’ music from the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and the Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 from the movie Above Suspicion.

Performing the Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major will be Austria-based Filipina pianist Aima Labra Makk.

In 1989, after winning a main prize at the First International Competition Franz Schubert and 20th Century Music in Graz, Makk began her European and American Concert tours earning for her worldwide acclaim. European critics described her playing as “peerless marked by high musical intelligence, colorful expression with physical robustness (to sound) with elegant ease of touch but never for the sake of display.”

“MMCO, Makk & Movies” is supported by Miriam College, Alveo, Lyric Piano, Steinway & Sons, John Robert Powers, Coyiuto Foundation, Lettered L and The Philippine STAR.
