Ruel Caasi at The Drawing Room

‘What a Pillow is Not: Unconscious’ at Mag:net Katipunan
Anna Leah Aldaba, Issay Rodriguez, Alden Santiago, and Joel Yabes and 14 other artists share what a pillow signifies to them in “What a Pillow is Not: Unconscious,” which is on view until Aug. 20 at Mag:net Gallery, 335 Agcor Bldg., Katipunan Ave., Loyola Heights, QC.
The statements are varied and rich, reflecting the brilliant minds of artists in the making.
The show, curated by Katti Sta. Ana, is a changing exhibit, with four to five artists showing each week, categorized by the common sub-theme of their works.

Dave Lock tackles what takes place after man’s fall from grace in “The Death of God is the End of Meaning.”
Ranelle Dial, who visited treasure sites all over Metro Manila in preparation, offers a round of guessing games on Yamashita’s treasure in “Seek, Keep & Hide,”
Tanya Villanueva examines images that catch her attention in “Fiction.” These range from instantly likeable images she finds on the Internet to what she considers grand gestures like love, death, sex, and triumph.
All four shows open tomorrow at West Gallery, 48 West Ave., QC. The shows run until Sept. 10.

Dodo Dayao and Ronald Achacoso at Mo_Space
Dodo Dayao presents some metaphor of the mythical Eden as both earthly paradise and ground zero of entropy in “Entropy Machine,” while Ronald Achacoso showcases his obsession with teasing the parallels that run between the process of art and the many processes of science in “Abstraction of Beasts.”
