MANILA, Philippines - The first online fundraising auction of UNICEF Philippines dubbed “Auction for Action” has successfully raised over P1.4 million with proceeds to benefit children’s programs in the country and worldwide.
The project brought together works of reputable artists in contemporary art, design, furniture, fashion, jewelry and photography along with exciting experiential packages.
In partnership with Ebay Philippines, the online auction went live for 11 days with the Michael Cacnio piece getting the highest bid price at over P100,000. Mich Dulce’s Adam Ant hat received the most number of bids with a total of 91.
“The result of the auction exceeded all our expectations. What is so magnificent is the generosity shown by the artists by donating these works of art to UNICEF. The proceeds from this auction will enable us to reach the most disadvantaged children,” said Vanessa Tobin, UNICEF country representative.
Auction for Action is the brainchild of Daphne Oseña-Paez, UNICEF special advocate for children. The auction gathered Filipino luminaries of the design world, with Paez working closely with the UNICEF team in conceptualizing, planning and putting the project together.
