'Dance 2 Inspire' at Meralco Fitness Hall
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Institute for the Deaf (PID), in cooperation with Tahanang Walang Hagdanan, presents a dance concert titled “Dance.comPassion — Dance 2 Inspire” on April 28, 7 p.m., at the Meralco Fitness Hall, Meralco Compound, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City.
“Dance 2 Inspire” features performances by the talented dancers of the Philippine Institute for Deaf — the pioneer and premiere oral school for the deaf, teaching deaf children to speak, sing and dance to the music they cannot even hear — and Latin dancers on wheelchair of Tahanang Walang Hagdanan. The show will also feature the first deaf ballerina, Denisse Limcuando, a recent graduate of PID, who is now a scholar of Ballet Manila under the tutelage of BM’s artistic director Liza Macuja-Elizade.
The show also features the country’s top ballroom champions performing world-class Latin and Standard show dances. The dancers will take on rumba, samba, paso doble, cha-cha, Argentine tango, foxtrot, quickstep, waltz and jive performances. With Latin DanceSport champion Genice Bong Marquez as the artistic director.
Proceeds of “Dance 2 Inspire” are intended solely to funds for scholarships for the students of the Philippine Institute for the Deaf and for the daily sustenance and livelihood programs of Tahanang Walang Hagdanan.
Anna Marie Periquet is the project chairman of “Dance 2 Inspire,” Cynthia Romero Mamon is the president of the foundation, and Julie Esguerra is the PID visionary behind the project.
“Dance 2 Inspire” is presented by Meralco, Enchanted Kingdom, Kamera World, Dance Vision and BMG (Bong Marquez Group). For ticket inquiries and reservations, call the Philippine Institute for the Deaf at 0927-2395841 or 0917-7981970.
