The Makiling Guitar Duo revisits Bach

MANILA, Philippines - Classical guitarists Ivar Fojas and Nobel Queaño of the Makiling Guitar Duo will perform a two-day/five-show concert series titled “Bach to Basics” at the University of the Philippines (UP), Los Baños CAS Auditorium on March 3 and 4. The Makiling Duo will also launch its debut album, which features the music of Bach, Vivaldi and Debussy.

The artists’ partnership began in the early ’90s at the UP College of Music where they both studied. Ivar is a former classical guitar instructor of the UP College of Music and is currently a professor of Humanities at the UPLB where he is now based. Hong Kong-based guitarist Nobel Queano was a recipient of the Most Outstanding Music Student for two consecutive years of the Yamaha Music School of Philippines in 1986 and 1987. He was also a former member of the Baguio Guitar Society, the Philippine Guitar Society, the UP Guitar Ensemble, and the Philippine Youth Orchestra.
