RC Makati West mounts 'Alay Sining'

MANILA, Philippines -  The Rotary Club of Makati West (RCMW) mounts “Alay Sining 3,” which opens on Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati.

“Alay Sining 3” is a one-day exhibit and sale of the artists’ works to raise funds for the club’s Gift of Life program that provides free heart operation for indigent children while promoting Philippine sculpture at the same time.

The buyers of the art pieces at Alay Sining 3 will be able to help the club raise the money for the heart surgery badly needed by the some 6,000 Filipino children born with congenital heart disease. RCMW president Eric Angeles says, “Our Gift of Life program has helped over 200 children undergo the operation so far, but there are hundreds more in the waiting list.”

“Alay Sining 3” is a project of RCMW’s Culture Committee headed by National Artist I.P. Santos as chairman and Jun Alvendia as co-chairman. The other members of the committee are Ed Balois, Paolo Delgado, Ernie Fajardo, Rene Nieva and Roque Tordesillas.

The exhibit features works by Napoleon Abueva, Adel Agubang, Agnes Arellano, Fred Baldemor, Wilson William Baldemor, Michael Cacnio, Lor Calma, Ed Castrillo, Kylo Chua, Seb Chua, Joe Datuin, Noy Gepte, Juan Sajid Imao, Pete Jimenez, Maria Magdamit, Jose Mendoza, Carlito Ortega, Ramon Orlina, Impy Pilapil, Ton Raymundo, Ronnel Roces, Jonahmar Salvosa, Rinald Sotto, Jing Turalba, Francisco Verano and Jun Vicaldo.

Sponsors of Alay Sining 2 include the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the Siguion Reyna Montecillo & Ongsiako Law Offices, and Perceptions Inc.
