MANILA, Philippines - In his artistic career spanning almost three decades, Omi Reyes has been renowned for the veined, translucent petals of his finger painted flowers, glowing ethereal landscapes and piercing, poignant portraits snapped up in successful exhibitions in Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States.
“OMIxed,” his 15th solo exhibition that opens on Nov. 25 at Galerie Anna in SM Megamall, will showcase art pieces that resonate not only his evolution as an artist but also in revealing art concepts that he kept restrained for a long time.
The artist says, “I first discovered in the ’80s how much I enjoyed creating mixed media works using found objects and layering them with wood, paint and canvas. I found nature inspiring and meditative so that translated nicely into my finger paintings, still lifes and landscapes, but these new tri-dimensional works really challenge me and make me think on my feet.”
OMIxed will open at the Galerie Anna, fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City. For details, call 470-2511 or 470-9869.
